Health Equity is a complicated and huge problem for all of us, not just the people suffering from poor health as a result of many issues that may be out of their control - where they live, genetic history, or cultural differences that make it difficult to navigate our healthcare system. This Podcast series will explain what Health Equity (or Health IN-Equity) is all about by using words, examples, and stories so everyone can understand this complicated problem. And based on what we learned about COVID, it is in everyone's best interest to be concerned about the health of everyone in this country to prevent another healthcare pandemic.

In this episode, we discuss what may be the heart of Health Equity (actually In-equity) - Social Determinants of Health, specifically food insecurity. Some say that only 10-20% of "health" is clinical, the rest are other factors like the lack of enough food to feed your family.
Cathy Kanesfky shares with us from an unbelievable personal perspective her work in creating one of the largest food banks in the region, and a beautiful heartwarming lesson in leadership along the way. David Chernov is a healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience, a founding member, and the former Executive Director of a multi-health system coalition.
