Health Equity is a complicated and huge problem for all of us, not just the people suffering from poor health as a result of many issues that may be out of their control - where they live, genetic history, or cultural differences that make it difficult to navigate our healthcare system. This Podcast series will explain what Health Equity (or Health IN-Equity) is all about by using words, examples, and stories so everyone can understand this complicated problem. And based on what we learned about COVID, it is in everyone's best interest to be concerned about the health of everyone in this country to prevent another healthcare pandemic.

Dr. Dan Morhaim and I open our new series from Defining Health Equity we call, “Dr. Dan from Inside the ER.” Dr. Dan is virtually (6) guests in one – 40 years of front-line clinical experience, including as an emergency room physician – cannot get more frontline than that, healthcare entrepreneur, a former 24-year state legislator, author, national speaker, and professor.
In Part 1 of this podcast, Dr. Morhaim takes us behind the scenes and analyzes what he calls the “golden hour,” the time between the vicious beating Tyree Nichols experienced and the time Tyree should have received medical care. Dr. Dan digs deeper into what happened, why, and what the root cause may have been that created the incident to begin with. You will be surprised by what we uncover.

David Chernov is a healthcare leader with over 30 years of experience, a founding member, and the former Executive Director of a multi-health system coalition.
